Therapeutic indications
Smooth muscle spasm associated with biliary diseases: gallstones, cholangiolithiasis, cholecystitis, pericholecystitis, cholangitis, papillitis.
Spasm of the urinary tract muscles associated with kidney diseases: renal lithiasis, ureterolithiasis, pyelitis, cystitis, bladder tenesmus.
It can be used as an associated treatment in:
Smooth muscle spasms caused by gastrointestinal disorders: gastric or duodenal ulcer, gastritis, enteritis, colitis, cardiac or pyloric sphincter spasm, irritable bowel syndrome, spastic constipation or flatulence, pancreatitis.
In gynecological conditions: dysmenorrhea, adnexitis, intense pain during labor, uterine contractions, impending abortion.
Doses and method of administration
- Adults: The usual dose is 1-2 Spasmocalm tablets 3 times a day (120-240 mg drotaverine hydrochloride per day).
- Children: between 1 - 6 years the recommended dose is ½ - 1 Spasmocalm compimate 2-3 times a day (40 - 120 mg drotaverine hydrochloride per day).
- Children: over 6 years the recommended dose is one Spasmocalm tablet 2-5 times a day (80-200 mg drotaverine hydrochloride per day).
Composition
One tablet contains drotaverine hydrochloride 40 mg and excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, polyvidone K30, magnesium stearate, talc.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Animal reproduction studies have shown that drotaverine does not affect pregnancy and has no teratogenic or embryotoxic properties.
