Ketomag 100 mg

Presentation:

Suppositories containing 100mg Ketoprofen, in boxes with 2 foils of 5 suppositories each.

Is suitable for attenuation of pain syndromes, symptomatic treatment of inflammatory, degenerative and metabolic rheumatic diseases; post traumatic pain, rheumatoid arthritis, spondilo-arthritis serum negative, gout, pseudo-gout, arthrosis, extra-joint rheumatism (tendonitis, bursitis, scapulo-humeral).

Administration:

One suppository three times a day. Maximum daily dose is 300mg ketoprofene.

Contraindications:

  •     Newborns and babies
  •     Gastro-duodenal ulcer, active peptic ulcer
  •     Hypersensitivity to ketoprofene, acetylsalicylic acid or other prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors or to other ingredients of the product.
  •     In patients with bronchial asthma or allergic reactions a risk of bronchial spasm exists.

Precautions:

Precautions must be taken when administered to patients with antecedents in gastric or duodenal ulcer, gastro-intestinal bleedings, cardiac, renal or liver insufficiency or under cumarinic anticoagulants. As other anti inflammatory substances ketoprofene can mask signs or symptoms of acute infections.

Pregnancy and nursing:

Pregnancy: There are no studies on humans about fetus risk during pregnancy. Animal studies showed nor risk. In the last trimester administration of ketoprofene is not indicated because it can prolonge labor and decrease uterine contractions

Nursing: Ketoprofene is excreted in mother’s milk. It will not be administered during lactation.

Adverse reactions:

Frequent: gastro-intestinal: dyspepsia, nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence, diarrhea or constipation.

Occasional: migraine, vertigo, tiredness, depressive status, vomiting.

Very rare: visual blur, hepatic and renal disorders, asthma crisis, skin reactions (Steven-Johnson syndrome), alteration of blood formula.
